There are two kinds of heat exchanger that can be within your heating unit, the primary heat exchanger and the secondary heat exchanger.
The primary is present in almost all boilers and it allows the heat to be transferred from the burner to the water within the system.
The secondary heat exchanger is only found in combination boilers, and transfers heat from the primary circuit to the domestic hot water circuit.
NB. This is a HTS heat exchanger, designed as a direct budget replacement for the Worcester 87161066850 16 plate heat exchanger. It is not a genuine Worcester Bosch product.
