The pressure relief valve, sometimes called relief valve, PRV or safety valve, is used to relieve the pressure in a system.

It is set to open if the pressure within the system rises past a certain point to prevent any severe damage to the system .

Each PRV has an internal “bar” limit set, when the pressure within the system exceeds the bar the pressure relief valve opens and the build up of water is discharged which reduces the amount of pressure within the system .
