Worcester 87161066850 Heat Exchanger
This 14 plate heat exchanger replaces the old 16 plate heat exchanger which had a tendency to block. The slightly wider waterways in this revised part are less prone to blocking and calcification.

There are two kinds of heat exchanger that can be within your boiler, the primary heat exchanger (also called a heat engine in Worcester’s terminology) and the secondary heat exchanger.
The primary is present in almost all boilers and allows the heat to be transferred from the burner to the water within the system.
The secondary heat exchanger is only found in combination boilers, and transfers heat from the primary circuit to the domestic hot water (DHW) circuit.
